Sometimes you see online photos of amazingly gorgeous vacation homes around the world.
These are places we wish we could book and visit right away. Guests love to post about the places they visit on vacation. And if your Airbnb has great design, they’ll tag your place and promote it for you.
You don’t need to spend a lot of money to transform your Airbnb bedroom into a great space. And you don’t need help from an interior designer. As a bedroom is not a big place, it might just need a fresh coat of paint and some beautiful focal points like a piece of art on the wall (something local, from a painter or a photographer).
As a vacation rental homeowner, consider spending a night or two in your Airbnb rental so you can experience it as your guests will.
Check if the HVAC is running fine. How comfortable is the bed? Are the windows covered properly? Do the electronics work? Remember to check the batteries. If your guests can’t get a good night’s sleep, it won’t matter if your place is the most Instagrammable home ever. These are the essentials.
Use eco paints
Why not go with eco-friendly paints? There are recycled paints that both reduce the cost of your painting project and reduce the cost to the environment. There are many companies that recycle unused paint and sell them, giving life to a product destined for the landfill.
Paints can also be made of soybean and sunflower oils, and the resin made from recycled plastic bottles. With natural ingredients, you don't need to worry about any heavy metals, compounds, or harsh chemicals as they are made from water, essential oils, chalk, plant dyes, clay, and even bees' wax.
Bring in some plants
You can also go green with plants! Bringing in houseplants freshens the air (remember science class?) Plants add oxygen, remove carbon dioxide, and add visual interest into your interior design. Plants in your bedroom can rest on a piece of furniture, sit in a window sill or hang from a hook in the ceiling. Although most plants do their photosynthesis during the day, certain plants such as succulents, snake plants, orchids, and bromeliads work in the opposite way, cleaning up the air while your guests are sleeping.
Use stylish bedding
Go with complete bedding sets to decorate your Airbnb’s sleeping spaces. It’s easy and affordable. You can use extra accessories like throws and pillows to customize these sets.
If you have more than one bedroom in your rental, you can buy more bedding sets with the same color scheme but different patterns. This way you can mix and match linens and accessories between the two rooms for a custom style.
Make room to sit
You might think is not a great idea to pack in more furniture, but if there is space place an upholstered bench, a chair and a side table in a corner. If the home you’re listing is a studio, this is a fundamental step. It makes the room look and feel more spacious!
The bedroom is the core value you provide with your Airbnb rental. At the end of the day, folks just need a comfortable place to sleep. Make sure that what you offer checks all the boxes it takes to make your guests feel welcome and delighted to stay with you.
